Temperament
Helix is definitely a one person kind of ferret, he's tolerant of others, but he really has no use for anyone
but me - and there are days he has no use for me either. He has a very opinionated temperament, but he's
not prone to being forceful to get his way. Helix is very intelligent and responds quickly to training, yet his core
temperament remains quite independant. He goes about his business as if he's got something on his mind, something he's
got to accomplish today. I'm not sure what that something could be, but it makes for a pretty interesting little character
and I completely dig his way of being. Helix is a sane, sound minded hob, though certainly a bit on the peculiar side...
or would that be eccentric?
Structure
Helix a solid handful with outstanding muscle, beautiful type and effortless movement. He is a moderate,
compact hob with correct proportions and beautiful balance. His head type is outstanding: correct shape, broad muzzle,
strong cheek and underjaw with correct occlusion. Helix has nice shoulder layback, good reach and drive along with clean
front and rear structure and movement. He is extremely athletic for such a compact build. Helix weighs in at 1850gm and
tends to hold on to most of this mass while in season.
Title Progress
Helix has done very well in AFA show competition, he's usually in the top ten and very often in the top 3. We are very pleased
with his progress so far and would like to thank the judges who recognize correct type, structure and temperament even though
its wrapped in a moderate, plain brown wrapper. The highlight of his show career so far was winning ring 3 at the 2005 AFA
Winter Nationals against an entry of 53 adolescent hobs. We look forward to finishing his AFA Championship at his next show.
Update! Helix finished his AFA Gold Level Championship with a bang by going Best Breeder in Show in a large and very competitive breeder class entry
at the 2006 AFA Winter Nationals! |
